Some History

Now that my triplets are halfway through the terrible three's and approaching four years old (I can't believe they are that old already), I thought it might be nice to try and connect with others with triplets of the same age or who have any advice regarding triplets of that age. I am not very technologically advanced. Hence, it has taken me three years since their birth to get brave enough to set up a blog.

As for me, my boy-boy-girl triplets (Keaton, Nate, and Eva) were born in June, 2005. They were 9 1/2 weeks early, and weighed 3 pounds, 6 ounces; 3 pounds 2 ounces; and 2 pounds 4 ounces at birth. The boys spent 4 1/2 weeks and Eva spent 5 weeks in the NICU until they were released to come home with us. They did really well and had no problems. We were blessed in that regard. Because Eva had an intrauterine growth restriction, she was much tinier than the boys, but she beat them in all the developmental milestones. The boys weighed about 4 pounds when they came home. Eva weighed only 3 1/2 pounds when she came home. Normally, the NICU won't let them come home until they are over 4 pounds, but because Eva was lighter due to the growth restriction and because she was doing so well and regulating her own temperature, she came home a little lighter. Now that mine are older, when I look at newborns who weigh 6 pounds, I initially think how small they are. Then I remember that my daughter came home at half that weight, and I still can't believe it! I have so many funny stories relating to their toddler years. I will have to post some when I get the time.
