Here's a sample dialogue from a recent conversation I had with my child:

Me: "Nate, you have to sit at the table to eat your treat so you don't make a mess all over the place."

Nate: (imperiously) "Never!"

I mean, what's that all about and where in the world did he get this? Over the past three years, Charlene has done so much with them, just like a teacher, and I feel better about knowing they have gotten such one-on-one attention during the weekdays. This school year, however, we decided to place them in church pre-school from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Mon. thru Thurs. They have LOVED it, and it has been so good for them to interact with other children their age and with their teachers.

Unfortunately, this has also been a horrible winter for us for illnesses, primarily because of all the new germs they are constantly exposed to in the preschool setting. Literally, someone was sick from September thru December. One would get something and pass it down the line. Cliff or I would get it. Somewhere in the transmission process it would mutate and all three would get sick in progression again. Ugh! Finally after Christmas we had a four week spell where everyone was well. But, then, the dreaded bugs descended again.

Let's see, in the last three weeks, all three have had the Croup. Then, the next week, they all got ear infections. Now, we are just getting over the stomach virus, which has been going around our community with a vengeance. They are at the age when throwing up is very scary to them because they don't understand what is happening. Poor babies. They've been so lethargic. I've worked from home so I could be with them. I set them up in my bed watching Disney DVDs while I worked next to them. I am not kidding when I say they have watched at least 10 Disney movies in the last three days. At least we should be well-versed on all the various Disney characters when we go in May. They were finally well and fit enough to go back to school today, thank goodness!

I'm sick of them (and then me and Cliff) getting sick and am soooo ready for spring to get here!

Disney World Suggestions?

Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for doing Disney World with 3 four year olds? I am not very technologically advanced. Hence, it has taken me three years since their birth to get brave enough to set up a blog.

As for me, my boy-boy-girl triplets (Keaton, Nate, and Eva) were born in June, 2005. They were 9 1/2 weeks early, and weighed 3 pounds, 6 ounces; 3 pounds 2 ounces; and 2 pounds 4 ounces at birth. The boys spent 4 1/2 weeks and Eva spent 5 weeks in the NICU until they were released to come home with us. They did really well and had no problems. We were blessed in that regard. Because Eva had an intrauterine growth restriction, she was much tinier than the boys, but she beat them in all the developmental milestones. The boys weighed about 4 pounds when they came home. Eva weighed only 3 1/2 pounds when she came home. Normally, the NICU won't let them come home until they are over 4 pounds, but because Eva was lighter due to the growth restriction and because she was doing so well and regulating her own temperature, she came home a little lighter. Now that mine are older, when I look at newborns who weigh 6 pounds, I initially think how small they are. Then I remember that my daughter came home at half that weight, and I still can't believe it! I have so many funny stories relating to their toddler years. I will have to post some when I get the time.

Triple Treasures -- Award Winning Book

When I first found out that I was expecting triplets, I wanted to read as much as I could about the experiences of other women who had been pregnant with and given birth to triplets or other higher order multiples. Unfortunately, I only found three books that remotely fit the bill. So, I wrote and published my own book: Triple Treasures: Our Journey from Infertility through the First Year with Triplets. It is available through Amazon. You can click on this link, Triple Treasures, to view it at Amazon. I hoped to add another voice and resource for other families who had either just given birth to or were expecting triplets or other higher order multiples. I was recently informed that Triple Treasures was named a 2009 Silver Recipient by the Mom's Choice Awards(R) in the Family and Parenting category. I am thrilled, and hope that the book is helpful to others who have also been blessed with triplets!
